The Challenge

This bathroom hadn’t been updated since it was built. After Alex’s parents passed away, it was time to tidy up the property before putting it on the market.

Beige tiles on both the walls and floor made the space feel dark and dated, which Alex knew buyers see as a hard thing to fix.

You can see the vanity, mirror and shower screen are being replaced in this project, but since the tiles are simply dated, this work created an affordable fresh look compared to a time consuming, noisy experience.

Before resurfacing, the tiles are a dated beige with pattern accents and the floor is a dark brown.

The Solution: Bathroom Tile Resurfacing

We recommended full bathroom tile resurfacing (both walls and floors) to transform the space with a fresh, bright finish.

Resurfacing costs up to 70% less than a full rip-out and replacement, and gives buyers the clean, modern look they expect, without weeks of trades on-site.

Instead of walking into the bathroom and thinking they'd have to spend a lot to get it into shape, the buyers walked in and got that renovated feel.

After resurfacing, the floor tiles are grey and the wall tiles look like a simple modern white.

After resurfacing the tiles, the walls were quick and easy to repaint. The cabinet was fitted and a new mirror, as well as a fresh shower screen.

Managing Timing and Access

Because the property was empty, the timeline was simple: 2 days for resurfacing, plus 1 extra day for drying. The bathroom was out of action for 3 full days, but there was no disruption to the client since no one was living there.

Once the work was complete, the real estate could get their marketing photos and have the property listed in a quick timeline.

Advising Strata

For units or shared walls, we always advise owners to let Strata know in advance. Our spray coatings are fully controlled and vented through the nearest window to minimise fumes, but a mild smell is normal on spray days.
